Chapsinja village continues to be a beacon to the surrounding communities not least because the first clay-brick twin-classroom block has accepted it’s first cohort of primary pupils. Success in itself generates a whole new raft of challenges that even Mr Gove would struggle to solve. The two modest classrooms house a total of 180 youngsters which neatly negates the zero table and chair problem and the total lack of equipment, but back to the floor teaching does little to dampen the resolve of the plucky teachers.
To aid the registration of the fledgling school with the government, (essential for credibility and sustainability) Chief Chapsinja has been traveling a considerable distance to a secondary school to learn English and proudly presented to us his first English speech through a grin that would intimidate any Cheshire feline.
