Air conditioning Africa

Flying to Nairobi via Doha purely for economic reasons, at least gives Qatar airways the opportunity to remind its travellers why it is a good idea to stage a world event in the middle of a reclaimed desert. My sleep deprived traveller’s brain began contrasting the technical realities of air conditioning entire football stadiums with the possibilities that some small change could make to the hundreds of thousands of lives that exist on Kenya’s largest slum.

Twenty minutes by car from the recently fire torn Kenyatta international airport, largely forgotten by government, and littered with disjointed but well intentioned NGO projects, lies the massive sprawling shanty slums of Kibera.
